COUNTY LEGISLATOR ZACH COLLINS SUPPORTS MEALS ON WHEELS FOR HOMEBOUND SENIORS

At Legislative Meeting, Albany County Legislators Approve Resolution to Help Provide Tens of Thousands of Meals to Seniors in Ravena, Coeymans, & South Bethlehem

ALBANY, NY – The Albany County Republican & Conservative Conference this week supported a resolution to help provide thousands of meals to homebound seniors in Ravena, Coeymans, and South Bethlehem. The measure, which passed unanimously in last night’s Legislative Meeting, has been a great priority for County Legislator Zach Collins (C-R, Coeymans).

“Supporting homebound seniors in Ravena, Coeymans, and South Bethlehem has been one of my top priorities since becoming a County Legislator. It is up to us as their friends, families, neighbors and elected representatives to make sure our seniors are always cared for; that is why I proudly support this resolution providing critical funding to our local meals-on-wheels program with Senior Projects of Ravena. I thank my colleagues for voting to approve this measure, which will soon help deliver tens of thousands of meals to older adults in my district,” said County Legislator Collins.

The resolution approved in last night’s Legislative Meeting authorizes the County Department for Aging to provide more than $30,000 in state funding to the Senior Projects of Ravena. The contract provides funding to purchase a vehicle that will help deliver nearly 17,000 meals to homebound seniors, as well as 28,000 congregate-setting meals in Senior Projects’ five locations over the course of a year.
